Yahava KoffeeWorks just works

Writer: Coffee CatchupCoffee Catchup

Yahave KoffeeWorks in the Swan Valley has an very unique setup with its styling you could feel you have stepped into a Steam Punk movie set from the 1880s.

Yahava KoffeeWorks is a must stop when out and about in the picturesque Swan Valley near Perth.  They are a specialty coffee roastery founded in 2001 by Alex Kok.  His vision was to travel around the world's greatest coffee growing regions and source the very best coffee.

There are about fourteen coffee bean blends and single origins to choose from ranging from mellow through to bold extreme flavour profiles.  KoffeeWorks has several tasting tables setup where you are invited to sample a few of the beans. I sampled Pacifica, an organic blend, Romeo No.5 blend and Kahava a beautiful single origin bean.

  • The Pacifica is a blend of Peruvian and Mexican beans which provides both a medium roasted bold flavour and velvety milk chocolate feel.

  • The Romeo No.5 consists of four beans from Ethiopia, Colombia, Rwanda and Sumatra. The medium roast wasn't to my taste but would be suited to those who like an easy to drink coffee that works well with milk.

  • The Kahava is a single origin from the Thalanar Estate in the south of India. They provide a citrusy, nutty flavour with a deep dark chocolate after note. This was my favourite of the three I tastes.

Not only do they sell the coffee beans, they also have teas, chocolate coated coffee beans, syrups, an onsite café and coffee machines. I purchased a number of blends which have been a hit in my home machine, although I am running a bit low now so may have to purchase a few more on their onsite website (www.yahava.com.au/shop/coffee).

My #CoffeeCatchup roaster rating is 4.0/5☕

Yahava KoffeeWorks sounds like a fantastic spot! The steampunk vibe is so unique, and it’s great to hear about their commitment to sourcing the best coffee. I’d love to try their brews, especially alongside a cup of PNG Coffee!
